Dear Friend of the WorkShop Theater,
Like the iconic underdog’s inspired struggle towards identity in The Astonishing Times of Timothy Cratchit- our world premiere musical by Allan Knee currently playing- The Workshop Theater remains inspired and focused on incubating new plays and musicals in New York.
Our first MainStage play was Ken Jaworowski’s Believers. The New York Times reviewed it as“…a gasp-inducing shocker” and “…intriguing…intentionally ambiguous.” This spring we’ll produce Verona Walls by up-and-coming writer Laura Hirschberg. The play explores a contemporary understory within the classic tensions of Romeo and Juliet.
With great delight, we welcomed JIM DALE in October with our second Jewel Box Award at our annual unGala. His performance was astounding, and served to further bond us with the larger NY theatrical community.
Great new work is realized through a vibrant collaboration of artists and supporters. In the heart of the world’s theater capital, our ability to create rests on maintaining the space where we can develop and nurture these new works. In this season of giving, please help us to continue. Our appreciation lives within the creative process itself.
With full gratitude for your support,
Joe Giardina, Managing Director
Ben Sumrall, Board Chair
