WhatsUp at the WorkShop Special Edition: Generous Matching Grant Announcement From The Managing Director

Welcome to this special edition of WhatsUp at the WorkShop!

This one will be a little different. Since we're taking a short break while the Midtown International Theatre Festival is going on, we thought it would be a great idea to let you know of this cool new fundraising news. Because like most good things in life, the WorkShop costs money. The flu? Free. Stubbing your toe in the dark? Gratis. High-quality, entertaining theater in the heart of midtown? That'll cost ya. So below is a lovely message from a lovely man: David Pincus, our Managing Director. He’s going to let you know about this truly awesome fundraising opportunity. Please read it. It will be informative, gracious and may just contain a hidden message that will reveal the location of an ancient city populated by giant, mutant aardvarks. I’m kidding about the last one...Or am I? Guess you’ll have to read to find out!

Important Message from the Managing Director:

Dear Friends of the WorkShop,

Now is a very exciting time for the WorkShop Theater Company. This August, we begin our seventeenth season of developing new plays and presenting compelling theater on our constantly action-packed stages.

During a time when only 10% of Off-Off-Broadway theater companies have the ability to maintain long-term control of their own spaces, we've just signed a new ten-year lease that will allow our 175-member company to keep its creative two-theater home vital and active in the heart of Manhattan. This is a remarkable victory, and one in which we happily share with all of you, our friends and Supporters.

Right now there is no better time to help us with a tax-deductible donation as I am thrilled to announce that for all donations received between July 1, 2010 and this coming Thanksgiving (November 25, 2010), the WorkShop is the happy recipient of a very generous matching grant opportunity!

Through this matching grant, we will receive $1 for every $3 raised (up to first $30,000 donated) from the direct fundraising efforts of the company and our individual company artists. For instance, if you donate $30, the WorkShop gets an extra $10! This works for any amount you choose to send.

Your tax-deductible donation, along with its matching dollars, will not only keep our creative doors open, it allows us to continue to serve (and innovate with) our artists and audiences.
